Investing.com – Taiwan equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the , Optoelectronic and Semiconductor sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted lost 0.67%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Via Tech (TW:2388), which rose 9.63% or 1.05 points to trade at 11.95 at the close. Hannstar Touch (TW:3049) added 8.38% or 0.61 points to end at 7.89 and Bestec Power (TW:3308) was up 6.78% or 0.56 points to 8.82 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Global Lightin (TW:4935), which lost 6.92% or 5.00 points to trade at 67.30 in late trade. Lung Hwa Eltrs (TW:2424) declined 6.25% or 1.40 points to end at 21.00 and Hiyes International Co Ltd (TW:2348) shed 4.85% or 1.00 points to 19.60.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 536 to 239 and 90 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for December delivery was up 0.28% or 0.14 to $49.32 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in December rose 0.38% or 0.19 to hit $50.17 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 0.19% or 2.45 to trade at $1269.05 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.39% to 31.677, while TWD/CNY rose 0.09% to 0.2142.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.08% at 98.67.
