Investing.com – Taiwan equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the , Semiconductor and Glass sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted fell 0.97%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Jenn Feng (TW:1538), which rose 9.98% or 0.66 points to trade at 7.27 at the close. Tri Ocean Text (TW:1472) added 8.90% or 1.25 points to end at 15.30 and Pan Intl Ind (TW:2328) was up 8.45% or 2.50 points to 32.10 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Tong-Hwa Synth (TW:1418), which lost 8.25% or 0.39 points to trade at 4.34 in late trade. Shin Tai Ind (TW:1235) declined 8.20% or 2.50 points to end at 28.00 and Chang Ho (TW:1468) shed 7.79% or 0.95 points to 11.25.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 557 to 201 and 85 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for November delivery was up 0.72% or 0.32 to $44.80 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in December rose 0.69% or 0.32 to hit $46.80 a barrel, while the December Gold contract fell 0.25% or 3.35 to trade at $1338.35 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.35% to 31.465, while TWD/CNY fell 0.05% to 0.2128.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.03% at 95.44.
