Investing.com – Taiwan equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the , Optoelectronic and Glass sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted fell 2.30%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Sumagh High-Te (TW:1475), which rose 9.96% or 0.80 points to trade at 8.83 at the close. Super Dragon (TW:9955) added 9.92% or 1.25 points to end at 13.85 and Candmark (TW:5259) was up 9.59% or 0.14 points to 1.60 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Genesis Photon (TW:3383), which lost 8.76% or 0.48 points to trade at 5.00 in late trade. Aurotek (TW:6215) declined 8.39% or 1.30 points to end at 14.20 and Shin Zu Shing (TW:3376) shed 8.18% or 9.00 points to 101.00.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 776 to 42 and 33 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for August delivery was down 4.47% or 2.24 to $47.87 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in August fell 4.38% or 2.23 to hit $48.68 a barrel, while the August Gold contract rose 4.66% or 58.90 to trade at $1322.00 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.66% to 32.398, while TWD/CNY fell 2.19% to 0.2010.
The US Dollar Index was up 2.55% at 95.71.
