Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Mining, Automobiles & Parts and Electronic & Electrical Equipment sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 added 0.17%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Samsung Electronics Co Ltd DRC (LON:0593xq), which rose 4.44% or 48.00 points to trade at 1,128.50 at the close. Hikma Pharmaceuticals PLC (LON:HIK) added 4.41% or 55.50 points to end at 1,313.00 and B&M European Value Retail SA (LON:BMEB) was up 4.40% or 15.70 points to 372.70 in late trade.
Biggest losers included DCC plc (LON:DCC), which lost 8.23% or 407.00 points to trade at 4,537.00 in late trade. Persimmon PLC (LON:PSN) declined 5.22% or 69.00 points to end at 1,254.00 and BP PLC (LON:BP) shed 3.21% or 16.10 points to 485.70.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1148 to 678 and 458 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 2.35% or 39.45 to $1,719.95 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December fell 1.66% or 1.52 to hit $90.27 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract fell 1.31% or 1.28 to trade at $96.64 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.63% to 1.16, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.19% to 0.87.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.67% at 109.25.
