Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Electrical, Household Goods & Home Construction and Industrial Engineering sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 gained 0.61%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Persimmon PLC (LON:PSN), which rose 4.47% or 54.50 points to trade at 1,273.00 at the close. SSE PLC (LON:SSE) added 4.00% or 58.00 points to end at 1,508.00 and Barratt Developments PLC (LON:BDEV) was up 3.73% or 13.00 points to 361.20 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Prudential PLC (LON:PRU), which lost 9.27% or 82.20 points to trade at 804.20 in late trade. Fresnillo PLC (LON:FRES) declined 2.73% or 19.60 points to end at 698.40 and EasyJet PLC (LON:EZJ) shed 2.52% or 8.10 points to 312.80.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1116 to 638 and 500 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.12% or 2.05 to $1,654.25 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December fell 0.68% or 0.58 to hit $84.47 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract fell 0.28% or 0.26 to trade at $91.08 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.19% to 1.13, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.34% to 0.88.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.02% at 111.96.
