Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Mobile Telecommunications, Media and Aerospace & Defense sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 gained 0.76%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Coca Cola HBC AG (LON:CCH), which rose 7.98% or 176.00 points to trade at 2,382.00 at the close. Persimmon PLC (LON:PSN) added 3.09% or 42.00 points to end at 1,403.50 and Frasers Group PLC (LON:FRAS) was up 2.85% or 23.00 points to 829.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Entain PLC (LON:ENT), which lost 4.15% or 40.40 points to trade at 933.40 in late trade. Fresnillo PLC (LON:FRES) declined 1.12% or 5.30 points to end at 466.50 and Endeavour Mining PLC (LON:EDV) shed 1.01% or 13.00 points to 1,269.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 954 to 800 and 697 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was down 0.15% or 2.95 to $2,004.25 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in March fell 0.90% or 0.70 to hit $77.17 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract fell 0.91% or 0.75 to trade at $82.02 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.27% to 1.26, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.49% to 0.85.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.21% at 104.63.
