Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Pharmaceuticals & Biotech, Food & Drug Retailers and Tobacco sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 gained 0.86%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Ocado Group PLC (LON:OCDO), which rose 13.99% or 113.60 points to trade at 925.60 at the close. Informa PLC (LON:INF) added 5.76% or 31.80 points to end at 584.40 and Carnival PLC (LON:CCL) was up 5.28% or 40.60 points to 809.40 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Intermediate Capital Group PLC (LON:ICP), which lost 3.65% or 47.00 points to trade at 1,242.50 in late trade. London Stock Exchange Group PLC (LON:LSEG) declined 2.41% or 198.00 points to end at 8,022.00 and Flutter Entertainment PLC (LON:FLTRF) shed 2.06% or 240.00 points to 11,430.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 956 to 858 and 501 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.26% or 4.65 to $1,774.05 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December fell 3.36% or 2.99 to hit $85.97 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract fell 2.88% or 2.76 to trade at $93.23 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.54% to 1.18, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.44% to 0.88.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.48% at 106.68.
