Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Mining, Banking and General Retailers sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 lost 0.38%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Centrica PLC (LON:CNA), which rose 5.09% or 3.54 points to trade at 73.16 at the close. GSK plc (LON:GSK) added 2.13% or 29.60 points to end at 1,416.60 and CRH PLC (LON:CRH) was up 2.08% or 63.50 points to 3,114.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included NatWest Group PLC (LON:NWG), which lost 9.21% or 22.80 points to trade at 224.90 in late trade. Ocado Group PLC (LON:OCDO) declined 5.05% or 25.00 points to end at 470.20 and BHP Group PLC (LON:BHPB) shed 4.91% or 106.00 points to 2,052.00.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1088 to 662 and 502 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 1.16% or 19.40 to $1,646.20 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December fell 1.73% or 1.54 to hit $87.54 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract fell 1.72% or 1.63 to trade at $93.41 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.26% to 1.16, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.39% to 0.86.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.25% at 110.73.
