The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Fresnillo PLC (LON:FRES), which rose 3.66% or 18.50 points to trade at 524.00 at the close. Barclays PLC (LON:BARC) added 2.40% or 4.42 points to end at 188.54 and Standard Chartered PLC (LON:STAN) was up 2.24% or 15.20 points to 693.80 in late trade.
Biggest losers included BT Group PLC (LON:BT), which lost 4.60% or 5.05 points to trade at 104.70 in late trade. RS Group PLC (LON:RS1R) declined 3.17% or 22.50 points to end at 688.00 and Admiral Group PLC (LON:ADML) shed 3.02% or 84.00 points to 2,694.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 898 to 839 and 685 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was up 1.03% or 23.40 to $2,305.20 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in May rose 0.85% or 0.72 to hit $85.87 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract rose 0.92% or 0.82 to trade at $89.74 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.42% to 1.26, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.08% to 0.86.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.44% at 104.10.
