Investing.com – United Arab Emirates equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Banking, Consumer Staples and Finance & Investment sectors propelled shares lower.

At the close in Dubai, the DFM General declined 0.22% to hit a new 3-month low, while the ADX General index fell 0.09%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the DFM General were Emaar Malls (DU:EMAA), which rose 1.17% or 0.030 points to trade at 2.600 at the close. Air Arabia PJSC (DU:AIRA) added 0.78% or 0.010 points to end at 1.300 and SHUAA Capital PSC (DU:SHUA) was up 0.57% or 0.005 points to 0.880 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Takaful House (DU:DTKF), which lost 3.05% or 0.030 points to trade at 0.952 in late trade. Dubai Islamic Insurance Co. (DU:AMAN) declined 2.87% or 0.016 points to end at 0.541 and Dubai Financial Market PJSC (DU:DFM) shed 2.40% or 0.030 points to 1.220.

The top performers on the ADX General were Abd Nat Takafu (AD:TKFL) which rose 5.26% to 4.00, Aldar Properti (AD:ALDR) which was up 1.95% to settle at 2.620 and Rak Properties (AD:RPRO) which gained 1.69% to close at 0.600.

The worst performers were Int Fish Farmi (AD:ASMK) which was down 2.81% to 1.73 in late trade, Natl Bk Of Ad (AD:NBAD) which lost 2.25% to settle at 8.70 and Methaq (AD:METH) which was down 1.20% to 0.820 at the close.

Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 19 to 10 and 9 ended unchanged; on the Abu Dhabi, 7 rose and 6 declined, while 13 ended unchanged on the Dubai Stock Exchange.

In commodities trading, Crude oil for November delivery was down 0.18% or 0.09 to $49.74 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in December fell 0.04% or 0.02 to hit $51.84 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 0.03% or 0.40 to trade at $1269.00 a troy ounce.

USD/AED was down 0.00% to 3.6730, while EUR/AED fell 0.18% to 4.1093.

The US Dollar Index was up 0.24% at 96.36.
