Investing.com – United Arab Emirates equities were mixed at the close on Monday, as gains in the Insurance, Transport and Banking sectors propelled shares higher while losses in the Consumer Staples, Telecoms and Services sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Dubai, the DFM General declined 0.45%, while the ADX General index climbed 0.87%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DFM General were Gulf General Investments Company (DU:GGIC), which rose 1.80% or 0.008 points to trade at 0.453 at the close. Takaful House (DU:DTKF) added 1.72% or 0.020 points to end at 1.180 and Emaar Properties PJSC (DU:EMAR) was up 0.14% or 0.010 points to 7.300 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Gulf Navigation Holding PJSC (DU:GNAV), which lost 3.38% or 0.050 points to trade at 1.430 in late trade. AJMAN BANK PJSC (DU:AJBNK) declined 3.01% or 0.040 points to end at 1.290 and Union Properties PJSC (DU:UPRO) shed 2.56% or 0.025 points to 0.951.
The top performers on the ADX General were Gulf Pharm Ind (AD:GPHI) which rose 14.71% to 2.340, Em Driving Co (AD:DRIV) which was up 3.03% to settle at 8.50 and Aldar Properti (AD:ALDR) which gained 3.00% to close at 2.400.
The worst performers were Invest Bank AD (AD:INVB) which was down 10.00% to 2.070 in late trade, Commercial Bank International (AD:CBI) which lost 9.09% to settle at 1.800 and Int Fish Farmi (AD:ASMK) which was down 4.50% to 1.91 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 23 to 7 and 4 ended unchanged; on the Abu Dhabi, 15 fell and 11 advanced, while 5 ended unchanged on the Dubai Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for May delivery was down 1.12% or 0.55 to $48.76 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in May fell 0.89% or 0.46 to hit $51.30 a barrel, while the April Gold Futures contract rose 0.15% or 1.85 to trade at $1232.05 a troy ounce.
USD/AED was up 0.01% to 3.6732, while EUR/AED rose 0.22% to 3.9523.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.12% at 100.02.
