Investing.com – United Arab Emirates equities were mixed at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Services, Banking and Telecoms sectors propelled shares higher while losses in the Transport, Insurance and Consumer Staples sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Dubai, the DFM General lost 0.93% to hit a new 3-month low, while the ADX General index gained 0.13%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DFM General were Mashreqbank PSC (DU:MASB), which rose 3.90% or 3.00 points to trade at 80.00 at the close. Amanat Holdings PJSC (DU:AMANT) added 0.88% or 0.010 points to end at 1.140 and Dubai Investments PJSC (DU:DINV) was up 0.42% or 0.010 points to 2.390 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Islamic Arab Insurance Company (DU:SALAMA), which lost 10.00% or 0.052 points to trade at 0.468 in late trade. Air Arabia PJSC (DU:AIRA) declined 6.72% or 0.080 points to end at 1.110 and Marka Pjse (DU:MARKA) shed 6.47% or 0.09 points to 1.30.
The top performers on the ADX General were Gulf Cement Co (AD:GCEM) which rose 2.73% to 1.1300, First Gulf Bk (AD:FGB) which was up 1.66% to settle at 12.25 and Rak Properties (AD:RPRO) which gained 1.39% to close at 0.730.
The worst performers were Methaq (AD:METH) which was down 5.81% to 0.810 in late trade, Arkan Building Materials Co PJSC (AD:ARKN) which lost 5.26% to settle at 0.7200 and Int Fish Farmi (AD:ASMK) which was down 2.54% to 1.92 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 24 to 9 and 5 ended unchanged; on the Abu Dhabi, 11 fell and 6 advanced, while 8 ended unchanged on the Dubai Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for April delivery was up 0.64% or 0.31 to $48.71 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in May rose 0.76% or 0.39 to hit $51.74 a barrel, while the April Gold Futures contract rose 0.04% or 0.45 to trade at $1203.55 a troy ounce.
USD/AED was unchanged 0.00% to 3.6729, while EUR/AED fell 0.21% to 3.9048.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.19% at 101.45.
