It operates through Mobile Communications Services and Wireline Communication Services segments. The company offers digital wireless communications services under the Globe Postpaid and Prepaid, and Touch Mobile brands; digital mobile communication and internet-on-the-go services; voice, SMS, data, and value-added services; international long distance communication services or carrier services; and corporate data services, including end-to-end data solutions. It also provides wired and fixed wireless broadband services; electronic payment and remittance services under the GCash brand; content downloading, mobile commerce services, and other add-on VAS; technical and IT consulting services; support and industry specific solutions; warehouse and logistics services; and data management services. In addition, the company is involved in marketing and distribution activities; data center management; and provision of support and shared services. Further, it engages in venture capital, advertising, distribution, land holding, and tower activities; management of capital investment funds; application-to-person messaging; and information technology and software development, as well as electronic services. The company was formerly known as GMCR, Inc. and changed its name to Globe Telecom, Inc. in August 1998. Globe Telecom, Inc. was incorporated in 1935 and is headquartered in Taguig City, the Philippines.
