Investing.com – Belgium equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Financials, Healthcare and Pharma & Bio-technology sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 lost 0.16%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BEL 20 were Engie SA (PA:ENGIE), which rose 1.95% or 0.21 points to trade at 11.24 at the close. Elia (BR:ELI) added 1.94% or 0.910 points to end at 47.750 and Ontex Group (BR:ONTEX) was up 1.92% or 0.55 points to 28.93 in late trade.
Biggest losers included NV Bekaert SA (BR:BEKB), which lost 2.36% or 0.98 points to trade at 40.70 in late trade. ING Groep NV (AS:INGA) declined 2.27% or 0.310 points to end at 13.350 and KBC (BR:KBC) shed 1.12% or 0.670 points to 59.070.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 59 to 50 and 10 ended unchanged on the Brussels Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.67% or 8.25 to $1244.35 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in March rose 0.36% or 0.19 to hit $52.36 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract rose 0.40% or 0.22 to trade at $55.27 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.24% to 1.0705, while EUR/GBP fell 0.01% to 0.8541.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.29% at 100.10.
