Investing.com – Brazil equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Financials, Electric Power and Real Estate sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa gained 1.49%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were BM&FBovespa SA (SA:BVMF3), which rose 3.50% or 0.58 points to trade at 17.15 at the close. Cia Paranaense de Energia (SA:CPLE6) added 3.25% or 1.05 points to end at 33.38 and Petroleo Brasileiro SA PN (SA:PETR4) was up 3.05% or 0.40 points to 13.51 in late trade.
Biggest losers included EcoRodovias SA (SA:ECOR3), which lost 1.88% or 0.16 points to trade at 8.33 in late trade. Fibria Celulose SA (SA:FIBR3) declined 1.00% or 0.24 points to end at 23.70 and Klabin Unt (SA:KLBN11) shed 0.94% or 0.16 points to 16.78.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 210 to 139 and 30 ended unchanged on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 2.45% to 37.38.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was down 0.62% or 8.20 to $1317.90 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 0.44% or 0.19 to hit $43.77 a barrel, while the December US coffee C contract fell 0.11% or 0.17 to trade at $148.68 .
USD/BRL was down 1.31% to 3.2988, while EUR/BRL fell 1.38% to 3.7085.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.04% at 95.29.
