Investing.com – Brazil equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Real Estate, Public Utilities and Financials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa declined 0.32%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were Bradespar SA (SA:BRAP4), which rose 6.65% or 1.28 points to trade at 20.54 at the close. Vale SA (SA:VALE3) added 5.04% or 1.54 points to end at 32.11 and Natura Cosmeticos SA (SA:NATU3) was up 4.08% or 0.99 points to 25.24 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Cyrela Brazil Realty SA (SA:CYRE3), which lost 5.39% or 0.69 points to trade at 12.11 in late trade. EcoRodovias SA (SA:ECOR3) declined 4.15% or 0.37 points to end at 8.55 and Centrais Eletricas Brasileiras SA (SA:ELET3) shed 3.96% or 0.90 points to 21.82.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 178 to 169 and 32 ended unchanged on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 0.40% to 33.00.
In commodities trading, Gold for February delivery was down 0.89% or 10.85 to $1202.05 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in February fell 2.34% or 1.23 to hit $51.25 a barrel, while the March US coffee C contract fell 0.22% or 0.33 to trade at $149.57 .
USD/BRL was up 0.62% to 3.2313, while EUR/BRL fell 0.06% to 3.4379.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.97% at 101.23.
