Investing.com – Canada equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Clean Technology, Energy and Healthcare sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Toronto, the S&P/TSX Composite added 0.03%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the S&P/TSX Composite were K92 Mining Inc (TSX:KNT), which rose 6.63% or 0.36 points to trade at 5.79 at the close. Northland Power Inc . (TSX:NPI) added 5.27% or 1.23 points to end at 24.58 and Nuvei Corp (TSX:NVEI) was up 4.22% or 0.97 points to 23.93 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Manulife Financial Corporation (TSX:MFC), which lost 2.82% or 0.71 points to trade at 24.45 in late trade. Trisura Group Ltd (TSX:TSU) declined 2.37% or 0.76 points to end at 31.28 and iA Financial Corporation Inc (TSX:IAG) shed 2.25% or 1.92 points to 83.37.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 549 to 424 and 119 ended unchanged on the Toronto Stock Exchange.
The S&P/TSX 60 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of S&P/TSX Composite options, was down 0.69% to 12.96.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.15% or 2.95 to $1,918.15 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 1.14% or 0.92 to hit $81.31 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract rose 0.77% or 0.65 to trade at $84.77 a barrel.
CAD/USD was unchanged 0.05% to 0.74, while CAD/EUR unchanged 0.06% to 0.68.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.13% at 103.34.
