Investing.com – France equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Utilities, Oil & Gas and Consumer Goods sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 lost 0.50%, while the SBF 120 index declined 0.47%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CAC 40 were ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT), which rose 3.37% or 0.820 points to trade at 25.140 at the close. STMicroelectronics (PA:STM) added 2.48% or 0.495 points to end at 20.475 and BNP Paribas SA (PA:BNPP) was up 0.22% or 0.14 points to 64.76 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Peugeot SA (PA:PEUP), which lost 3.91% or 0.77 points to trade at 18.92 in late trade. Compagnie Generale des Etablissements Michelin SCA (PA:MICP) declined 1.84% or 2.25 points to end at 120.00 and Lafargeholcim Ltd (PA:LHN) shed 1.56% or 0.78 points to 48.79.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Spie SA (PA:SPIE) which rose 5.82% to 23.280, ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT) which was up 3.37% to settle at 25.140 and Rubis SCA (PA:RUBF) which gained 3.27% to close at 55.91.
The worst performers were Vallourec (PA:VLLP) which was down 10.23% to 4.582 in late trade, Electricite de France SA (PA:EDF) which lost 4.90% to settle at 11.74 and Gemalto (AS:GTO) which was down 4.35% to 32.67 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 406 to 197 and 87 ended unchanged on the Paris Stock Exchange.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was up 6.53% to 13.42.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.90% or 11.63 to $1275.87 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December fell 0.93% or 0.53 to hit $56.64 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract fell 0.74% or 0.47 to trade at $63.46 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.10% to 1.1654, while EUR/GBP fell 0.28% to 0.8831.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.08% at 94.34.
