Investing.com – India equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the IT, Technology and Real Estate sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 added 0.01% to hit a new 3-month high, while the BSE Sensex 30 index added 0.07%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (NS:TCS), which rose 5.59% or 104.80 points to trade at 1979.90 at the close. Bharti Infratel Ltd (NS:BHRI) added 3.88% or 11.85 points to end at 317.15 and Bajaj Auto Ltd (NS:BAJA) was up 2.19% or 67.65 points to 3161.60 in late trade.
Biggest losers included UPL Ltd (NS:UPLL), which lost 5.28% or 33.65 points to trade at 603.45 in late trade. Coal India Ltd (NS:COAL) declined 4.90% or 13.65 points to end at 264.80 and Hindalco Industries Ltd. (NS:HALC) shed 3.60% or 8.25 points to 220.80.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (BO:TCS) which rose 5.47% to 1979.60, Bajaj Auto Ltd (BO:BAJA) which was up 2.33% to settle at 3161.05 and Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (BO:HLL) which gained 1.59% to close at 1714.10.
The worst performers were Coal India Ltd (BO:COAL) which was down 4.59% to 265.25 in late trade, Vedanta Ltd (BO:VDAN) which lost 3.52% to settle at 218.00 and Tata Motors Ltd (BO:TAMO) which was down 2.74% to 267.85 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1036 to 566 and 55 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1529 fell and 1020 advanced, while 149 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 3.07% to 12.7750.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.34% or 4.30 to $1251.10 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 0.67% or 0.50 to hit $73.61 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 2.22% or 1.75 to trade at $77.11 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.20% to 68.772, while EUR/INR fell 0.19% to 80.5965.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.22% at 94.06.
