Investing.com – India equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the IT, Technology and Metals sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 gained 0.03% to hit a new all time high, while the BSE Sensex 30 index added 0.17%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd. (NS:ZEE), which rose 5.26% or 19.00 points to trade at 381.80 at the close. Yes Bank Ltd (NS:YESB) added 4.50% or 6.60 points to end at 152.80 and Infosys Ltd (NS:INFY) was up 2.56% or 18.15 points to 728.10 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Bharti Infratel Ltd (NS:BHRI), which lost 4.06% or 11.35 points to trade at 269.00 in late trade. Hero MotoCorp Ltd (NS:HROM) declined 2.56% or 72.20 points to end at 2743.10 and Grasim Industries Ltd (NS:GRAS) shed 2.54% or 23.80 points to 910.95.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Yes Bank Ltd (BO:YESB) which rose 4.06% to 152.60, Coal India Ltd (BO:COAL) which was up 2.72% to settle at 250.70 and Infosys Ltd (BO:INFY) which gained 2.47% to close at 726.65.
The worst performers were Hero MotoCorp Ltd (BO:HROM) which was down 2.55% to 2750.05 in late trade, Bajaj Auto Ltd (BO:BAJA) which lost 2.35% to settle at 2992.70 and Bharti Airtel Ltd (BO:BRTI) which was down 1.43% to 345.00 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 847 to 729 and 69 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1338 rose and 1142 declined, while 138 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 1.65% to 15.9225.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.02% or 0.25 to $1283.35 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 0.82% or 0.48 to hit $59.11 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract rose 0.29% or 0.20 to trade at $68.97 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.24% to 69.660, while EUR/INR rose 0.17% to 77.9310.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.18% at 97.648.
