Investing.com – India equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Healthcare, IT and Technology sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 rose 0.05%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index added 0.09%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Aurobindo Pharma Ltd. (NS:ARBN), which rose 4.79% or 33.50 points to trade at 732.15 at the close. Lupin Ltd (NS:LUPN) added 3.83% or 36.65 points to end at 992.50 and Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (NS:SUN) was up 2.94% or 13.80 points to 483.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included HCL Technologies Ltd (NS:HCLT), which lost 1.57% or 13.80 points to trade at 867.50 in late trade. Adani Port and Special Economic Zone Ltd (NS:APSE) declined 1.29% or 4.95 points to end at 380.05 and ACC Ltd (NS:ACC) shed 1.38% or 24.85 points to 1781.50.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Lupin Ltd (BO:LUPN) which rose 3.87% to 991.75, Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (BO:SUN) which was up 3.10% to settle at 483.30 and Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd (BO:REDY) which gained 2.88% to close at 2087.90.
The worst performers were Adani Port and Special Economic Zone Ltd (BO:APSE) which was down 1.32% to 379.95 in late trade, Bajaj Auto Ltd (BO:BAJA) which lost 1.04% to settle at 2731.85 and Reliance Industries Ltd (BO:RELI) which was down 0.88% to 1567.40 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 873 to 675 and 13 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1385 rose and 1095 declined, while 139 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 4.63% to 12.5725.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.20% or 2.58 to $1292.12 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 0.58% or 0.28 to hit $48.13 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract fell 0.38% or 0.20 to trade at $52.37 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.08% to 64.065, while EUR/INR fell 0.12% to 75.5322.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.10% at 93.23.
