Investing.com – India equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the IT, Capital Goods and Healthcare sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 added 0.61% to hit a new all time high, while the BSE Sensex 30 index climbed 0.58%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Coal India Ltd (NS:COAL), which rose 3.12% or 8.70 points to trade at 287.45 at the close. Lupin Ltd (NS:LUPN) added 2.57% or 23.15 points to end at 923.30 and Infosys Ltd (NS:INFY) was up 2.38% or 24.05 points to 1036.05 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Bharti Airtel Ltd. (NS:BRTI), which lost 4.44% or 24.00 points to trade at 516.35 in late trade. Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (NS:ONGC) declined 0.71% or 1.40 points to end at 197.40 and HCL Technologies Ltd (NS:HCLT) shed 0.43% or 3.90 points to 900.50.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Coal India Ltd (BO:COAL) which rose 3.26% to 287.85, Lupin Ltd (BO:LUPN) which was up 2.47% to settle at 921.40 and Infosys Ltd (BO:INFY) which gained 2.33% to close at 1035.65.
The worst performers were Bharti Airtel Ltd (BO:BRTI) which was down 4.43% to 516.10 in late trade, Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (BO:ONGC) which lost 0.28% to settle at 197.15 and Tata Steel Ltd (BO:TISC) which was down 0.18% to 768.95 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 985 to 648 and 24 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1752 rose and 1153 declined, while 125 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 4.75% to 13.7350.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.12% or 1.60 to $1320.70 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 0.49% or 0.30 to hit $61.74 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract rose 0.24% or 0.16 to trade at $67.78 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.20% to 63.401, while EUR/INR fell 0.11% to 76.1127.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.19% at 91.92.
