Investing.com – India equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Auto, Oil & Gas and Real Estate sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 gained 0.68% to hit a new all time high, while the BSE Sensex 30 index added 0.67%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Eicher Motors Ltd. (NS:EICH), which rose 3.96% or 159.75 points to trade at 4,191.00 at the close. Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (NS:MRTI) added 3.33% or 413.45 points to end at 12,835.05 and Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (NS:MAHM) was up 3.31% or 66.70 points to 2,080.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Ltd (NS:APSE), which lost 1.64% or 22.55 points to trade at 1,353.00 in late trade. Nestle India Ltd (NS:NEST) declined 1.48% or 37.65 points to end at 2,500.00 and Apollo Hospitals Enterprises Ltd. (NS:APLH) shed 1.23% or 78.75 points to 6,319.00.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (BO:MRTI) which rose 3.26% to 12,829.10, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (BO:MAHM) which was up 3.22% to settle at 2,079.95 and NTPC Ltd (BO:NTPC) which gained 3.19% to close at 365.70.
The worst performers were Nestle India Ltd (BO:NEST) which was down 1.50% to 2,500.00 in late trade, Wipro Ltd (BO:WIPR) which lost 0.94% to settle at 480.65 and Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (BO:SUN) which was down 0.51% to 1,601.00 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1236 to 946 and 58 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1976 fell and 1810 advanced, while 120 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 2.40% to 11.61.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.64% or 15.00 to $2,360.40 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in May fell 0.83% or 0.72 to hit $86.19 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract fell 0.81% or 0.74 to trade at $90.43 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.03% to 83.32, while EUR/INR rose 0.02% to 90.26.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.03% at 104.10.
