Investing.com – India equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Capital Goods, Green Energy and Power sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 added 0.82% to hit a new all time high, while the BSE Sensex 30 index climbed 0.79%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Adani Enterprises Ltd (NS:ADEL), which rose 5.15% or 117.55 points to trade at 2,402.00 at the close. Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Ltd (NS:APSE) added 5.03% or 36.25 points to end at 756.50 and JSW Steel Ltd (NS:JSTL) was up 2.74% or 20.90 points to 783.40 in late trade.
Biggest losers included HDFC Life Insurance Company Ltd (NS:HDFL), which lost 2.29% or 15.25 points to trade at 651.95 in late trade. Tech Mahindra Ltd (NS:TEML) declined 1.04% or 11.60 points to end at 1,108.10 and Hero MotoCorp Ltd (NS:HROM) shed 0.54% or 15.35 points to 2,828.75.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (BO:SUN) which rose 2.07% to 1,022.40, NTPC Ltd (BO:NTPC) which was up 1.80% to settle at 189.35 and Titan Company Ltd (BO:TITN) which gained 1.64% to close at 3,024.95.
The worst performers were Tech Mahindra Ltd (BO:TEML) which was down 0.93% to 1,109.00 in late trade, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (BO:MAHM) which lost 0.32% to settle at 1,396.00 and Bajaj Finserv Ltd (BO:BJFS) which was down 0.26% to 1,518.50 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 0 to 0; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 0 fell and 0 advanced on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 1.02% to 10.89 a new 3-year low.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.29% or 5.55 to $1,916.65 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 0.17% or 0.12 to hit $69.68 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 0.09% or 0.07 to trade at $74.31 a barrel.
USD/INR was unchanged 0.00% to 82.01, while EUR/INR rose 0.07% to 89.57.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.02% at 102.57.
