Investing.com – India equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Real Estate, Healthcare and Oil & Gas sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 rose 0.87% to hit a new 1-month high, while the BSE Sensex 30 index gained 0.87%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Bharat Petroleum Corp. Ltd. (NS:BPCL), which rose 4.22% or 21.60 points to trade at 533.85 at the close. GAIL Ltd (NS:GAIL) added 3.75% or 14.80 points to end at 409.60 and Tata Motors Ltd (NS:TAMO) was up 3.45% or 12.95 points to 388.25 in late trade.
Biggest losers included IndusInd Bank Ltd. (NS:INBK), which lost 2.76% or 49.35 points to trade at 1741.90 in late trade. Wipro Ltd (NS:WIPR) declined 1.01% or 3.05 points to end at 298.10 and Hero MotoCorp Ltd (NS:HROM) shed 0.65% or 25.60 points to 3918.90.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Gail (India) Ltd. (BO:GAIL) which rose 3.97% to 410.00, Tata Steel Ltd (BO:TISC) which was up 3.30% to settle at 683.15 and Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (BO:SUN) which gained 3.17% to close at 483.50.
The worst performers were Wipro Ltd (BO:WIPR) which was down 1.00% to 298.25 in late trade, Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (BO:ONGC) which lost 0.76% to settle at 162.15 and Hero MotoCorp Ltd (BO:HROM) which was down 0.72% to 3917.55 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 915 to 637 and 23 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1400 rose and 1114 declined, while 141 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 4.87% to 11.7575.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.49% or 6.54 to $1329.16 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 0.12% or 0.06 to hit $48.01 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 0.20% or 0.11 to trade at $53.95 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.06% to 64.020, while EUR/INR rose 0.06% to 76.4886.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.01% at 91.91.
