Investing.com – India equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the IT, Technology and Oil & Gas sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 added 1.19% to hit a new all time high, while the BSE Sensex 30 index gained 1.24%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Apollo Hospitals Enterprises Ltd. (NS:APLH), which rose 4.56% or 209.85 points to trade at 4,815.05 at the close. HDFC Life Insurance Company Ltd (NS:HDFL) added 4.55% or 24.90 points to end at 572.55 and Bharat Petroleum Corp. Ltd. (NS:BPCL) was up 3.50% or 10.85 points to 321.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Cipla Ltd. (NS:CIPL), which lost 0.98% or 10.90 points to trade at 1,097.10 in late trade. Coal India Ltd (NS:COAL) declined 0.91% or 2.10 points to end at 228.50 and Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (NS:KTKM) shed 0.44% or 8.50 points to 1,944.85.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Infosys Ltd (BO:INFY) which rose 2.93% to 1,629.80, HCL Technologies Ltd (BO:HCLT) which was up 2.59% to settle at 1,130.90 and Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (BO:PGRD) which gained 2.56% to close at 220.65.
The worst performers were Tata Steel Ltd (BO:TISC) which was down 0.14% to 105.45 in late trade, Bajaj Finserv Ltd (BO:BJFS) which lost 0.11% to settle at 1,634.15 and Bajaj Finance Ltd (BO:BJFN) which was down 0.10% to 6,772.55 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1071 to 809 and 67 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1840 rose and 1539 declined, while 127 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 4.02% to 13.48 a new 52-week low.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.62% or 10.85 to $1,756.45 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January fell 0.24% or 0.19 to hit $77.75 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract fell 0.53% or 0.45 to trade at $84.96 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.09% to 81.67, while EUR/INR rose 0.16% to 84.96.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.13% at 105.82.
