Investing.com – India equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the IT, Technology and Metals sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 gained 1.78% to hit a new 52-week high, while the BSE Sensex 30 index added 1.95%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Housing Development Finance Corporation Ltd (NS:HDFC), which rose 5.89% or 147.60 points to trade at 2,651.70 at the close. HDFC Bank Ltd (NS:HDBK) added 5.67% or 86.40 points to end at 1,611.15 and Infosys Ltd (NS:INFY) was up 4.54% or 68.15 points to 1,570.10 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Eicher Motors Ltd. (NS:EICH), which lost 4.90% or 181.20 points to trade at 3,519.65 in late trade. Hero MotoCorp Ltd (NS:HROM) declined 1.62% or 44.00 points to end at 2,668.50 and Britannia Industries Ltd (NS:BRIT) shed 0.87% or 36.00 points to 4,098.65.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Housing Development Finance Corporation Ltd (BO:HDFC) which rose 5.84% to 2,651.25, HDFC Bank Ltd (BO:HDBK) which was up 5.62% to settle at 1,610.95 and Infosys Ltd (BO:INFY) which gained 4.51% to close at 1,570.05.
The worst performers were Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (BO:MAHM) which was down 0.83% to 1,287.15 in late trade, State Bank Of India (BO:SBI) which lost 0.76% to settle at 601.10 and Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (BO:KTKM) which was down 0.73% to 1,898.60 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 994 to 867 and 62 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1731 rose and 1607 declined, while 141 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 7.47% to 14.40 a new 52-week low.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.77% or 13.50 to $1,767.20 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 3.26% or 2.82 to hit $89.29 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract rose 2.94% or 2.75 to trade at $96.42 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.20% to 80.79, while EUR/INR rose 0.81% to 82.97.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.92% at 107.10.
