Investing.com – India equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Consumer Durables, Healthcare and Banking sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 fell 0.69%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index declined 0.62%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Bharti Airtel Ltd. (NS:BRTI), which rose 4.06% or 49.40 points to trade at 1,265.85 at the close. Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (NS:PGRD) added 2.57% or 7.05 points to end at 281.30 and Bajaj Auto Ltd (NS:BAJA) was up 1.61% or 144.00 points to 9,063.15 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Apollo Hospitals Enterprises Ltd. (NS:APLH), which lost 3.71% or 234.75 points to trade at 6,100.00 in late trade. Titan Company Ltd (NS:TITN) declined 2.96% or 107.90 points to end at 3,538.00 and Nestle India Ltd (NS:NEST) shed 2.95% or 75.10 points to 2,471.00.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Bharti Airtel Ltd (BO:BRTI) which rose 3.97% to 1,265.00, Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (BO:PGRD) which was up 2.59% to settle at 281.45 and Infosys Ltd (BO:INFY) which gained 1.07% to close at 1,429.85.
The worst performers were Nestle India Ltd (BO:NEST) which was down 3.05% to 2,469.45 in late trade, Titan Company Ltd (BO:TITN) which lost 2.94% to settle at 3,540.00 and Axis Bank Ltd. (BO:AXBK) which was down 2.52% to 1,026.30 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1099 to 1089 and 47 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1852 rose and 1805 declined, while 124 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 3.37% to 13.04.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.37% or 8.95 to $2,397.35 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in May fell 1.14% or 0.94 to hit $81.75 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract fell 1.13% or 0.99 to trade at $86.30 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.01% to 83.54, while EUR/INR fell 0.05% to 89.14.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.03% at 105.74.
