Investing.com – India equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Real Estate, Healthcare and Capital Goods sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 declined 0.43%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index lost 0.39%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone (NS:APSE), which rose 3.73% or 6.40 points to trade at 177.95 at the close. Vedanta Ltd (NS:VDAN) added 2.11% or 2.00 points to end at 96.95 and ITC Ltd (NS:ITC) was up 1.69% or 5.50 points to 330.35 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Lupin Ltd (NS:LUPN), which lost 9.10% or 150.65 points to trade at 1504.80 in late trade. ICICI Bank Ltd . (NS:ICBK) declined 2.42% or 5.45 points to end at 220.10 and Bharat Petroleum Corp. Ltd. (NS:BPCL) shed 2.41% or 22.75 points to 920.50.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Vedanta Ltd (BO:VDAN) which rose 2.00% to 96.90, ITC Ltd (BO:ITC) which was up 1.55% to settle at 329.95 and Tata Power Co. Ltd (BO:TTPW) which gained 1.46% to close at 69.40.
The worst performers were ICICI Bank Ltd. (BO:ICBK) which was down 2.44% to 220.05 in late trade, Reliance Industries Ltd (BO:RELI) which lost 1.73% to settle at 934.10 and Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (BO:MAHM) which was down 1.17% to 1294.05 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1020 to 400 and 65 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1098 fell and 467 advanced, while 48 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India Vix, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 3.74% to 16.4250.
In commodities trading, Gold for June delivery was up 0.18% or 2.25 to $1257.05 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 0.21% or 0.10 to hit $48.77 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 0.18% or 0.09 to trade at $48.90 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.08% to 67.490, while EUR/INR rose 0.17% to 75.6800.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.02% at 95.32.
