Investing.com – India equities were mixed at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Technology, IT and Banking sectors propelled shares higher while losses in the Public Sector Undertakings, Power and Real Estate sectors led shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 declined 0.02%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index gained 0.14%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (NS:TCS), which rose 2.88% or 100.15 points to trade at 3,580.80 at the close. Larsen & Toubro Ltd (NS:LART) added 1.72% or 49.90 points to end at 2,944.10 and Infosys Ltd (NS:INFY) was up 1.67% or 24.65 points to 1,501.10 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Bharat Petroleum Corp. Ltd. (NS:BPCL), which lost 4.22% or 15.35 points to trade at 348.40 in late trade. Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (NS:PGRD) declined 3.57% or 7.08 points to end at 191.30 and NTPC Ltd (NS:NTPC) shed 3.29% or 8.00 points to 235.10.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (BO:TCS) which rose 2.91% to 3,580.60, Larsen & Toubro Ltd (BO:LART) which was up 1.68% to settle at 2,942.80 and Infosys Ltd (BO:INFY) which gained 1.66% to close at 1,500.80.
The worst performers were Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (BO:PGRD) which was down 3.48% to 191.40 in late trade, NTPC Ltd (BO:NTPC) which lost 3.31% to settle at 234.90 and Tata Steel Ltd (BO:TISC) which was down 1.68% to 128.85 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1867 to 182 and 27 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 2854 fell and 693 advanced, while 121 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 3.02% to 11.69.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.44% or 8.65 to $1,938.55 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 0.85% or 0.74 to hit $88.03 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 0.70% or 0.63 to trade at $91.27 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.08% to 82.95, while EUR/INR fell 0.26% to 88.86.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.27% at 104.47.
