Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Capital Goods, Banking and Oil & Gas sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the S&P CNX Nifty added 0.72% to hit a new 1-month high, while the BSE Sensex 30 index gained 0.76%.
The best performers of the session on the S&P CNX Nifty were NMDC Ltd (NS:NMDC), which rose 4.33% or 4.35 points to trade at 104.90 at the close. Meanwhile, Larsen & Toubro Limited (NS:LART) added 2.85% or 44.45 points to end at 1604.95 and State Bank Of India (NS:SBI) was up 2.37% or 5.90 points to 254.85 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Lupin Ltd (NS:LUPN), which fell 2.09% or 43.80 points to trade at 2055.30 at the close. IDFC LIMITED (NS:IDFC) declined 1.39% or 0.85 points to end at 60.20 and Idea Cellular Ltd (NS:IDEA) was down 1.31% or 2.00 points to 150.40.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Larsen & Toubro Limited (BO:LART) which rose 2.83% to 1604.60, State Bank Of India (BO:SBI) which was up 2.39% to settle at 254.90 and Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (BO:MRTI) which gained 1.60% to close at 4449.90.
The worst performers were TATA STEEL LIMITED (BO:TISC) which was down 1.04% to 252.65 in late trade, Coal India Limited (BO:COAL) which lost 0.98% to settle at 338.45 and Tata Power Co. Ltd (BO:TTPW) which was down 0.78% to 69.60 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 748 to 695 and 13 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 401 rose and 376 declined, while 8 ended unchanged.
Shares in IDFC LIMITED (NS:IDFC) fell to 52-week lows; falling 1.39% or 0.85 to 60.20.
The India Vix, which measures the implied volatility of S&P CNX Nifty options, was down 5.21% to 16.2750 a new 1-month low.
Gold for December delivery was down 0.51% or 6.10 to $1181.40 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 1.21% or 0.56 to hit $46.94 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract rose 0.88% or 0.44 to trade at $50.17 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.12% to 64.856, while EUR/INR fell 0.15% to 73.6140.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.23% at 94.67.
