Investing.com – Nigeria equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Oil & Gas, Food, Beverages & Tobacco and Banking sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Lagos, the NSE 30 rose 0.19%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the NSE 30 were Total Nig (LAGOS:TOTAL), which rose 4.90% or 13.96 points to trade at 288.96 at the close. Zenithbank (LAGOS:ZENITHB) added 3.23% or 0.50 points to end at 16.00 and Stanbicibtc Hl (LAGOS:IBTC) was up 2.82% or 0.48 points to 17.48 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Diamond Bank (LAGOS:DIAMONB), which lost 3.88% or 0.040 points to trade at 0.990 in late trade. Access Bank (LAGOS:ACCESS) declined 3.17% or 0.22 points to end at 6.75 and Guiness Nig (LAGOS:GUINNES) shed 2.48% or 1.65 points to 64.52.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 22 to 14 and 45 ended unchanged on the Lagos.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for March delivery was down 1.92% or 1.03 to $52.75 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in March fell 2.13% or 1.20 to hit $55.04 a barrel, while the February Gold contract fell 0.25% or 2.95 to trade at $1186.85 a troy ounce.
EUR/NGN was down 0.36% to 336.580, while USD/NGN fell 3.86% to 304.750.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.10% at 100.62.
