Investing.com – Russia equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Mining, Power and Oil & Gas sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX gained 0.28% to hit a new 52-week low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the MICEX were Tatneft OAO Pref (MCX:TATN_p), which rose 4.62% or 12.00 points to trade at 272.00 at the close. United Company Rusal Plc (MCX:RUAL) added 4.08% or 1.060 points to end at 27.050 and ANK Bashneft OAO Pref (MCX:BANE_p) was up 3.71% or 39.0 points to 1089.0 in late trade.
Biggest losers included MosEnrg (MCX:MSNG), which lost 6.49% or 0.1500 points to trade at 2.1595 in late trade. SG mechel (MCX:MTLR) declined 5.10% or 6.55 points to end at 121.95 and Aeroflot (MCX:AFLT) shed 4.14% or 7.55 points to 174.65.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 127 to 77 and 15 ended unchanged on the Moscow Stock Exchange.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was down 0.12% to 24.760.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.14% or 1.70 to $1256.30 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 0.67% or 0.30 to hit $44.76 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract rose 0.90% or 0.42 to trade at $47.34 a barrel.
USD/RUB was down 0.24% to 57.7362, while EUR/RUB rose 0.43% to 64.6775.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.32% at 97.19.
