Investing.com – Russia equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Oil & Gas, Mining and Manufacturing sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX gained 0.90% to hit a new all time high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the MICEX were NOVATEK (MCX:NVTK), which rose 4.52% or 34.60 points to trade at 799.40 at the close. ALROSA ao (MCX:ALRS) added 3.89% or 3.700 points to end at 98.700 and Tatneft OAO Pref (MCX:TATN_p) was up 3.84% or 8.60 points to 232.80 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Gruppa Cherkizovo ao (MCX:GCHE), which lost 2.35% or 18.0 points to trade at 748.0 in late trade. Lukoil (MCX:LKOH) declined 1.38% or 46.5 points to end at 3328.5 and MMC Norilsk Nickel (MCX:GMKN) shed 0.96% or 105.0 points to 10804.0.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 114 to 113 and 19 ended unchanged on the Moscow Stock Exchange.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was down 7.52% to 23.740.
In commodities trading, Gold for February delivery was down 0.67% or 7.80 to $1158.00 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 0.09% or 0.05 to hit $52.88 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract rose 0.02% or 0.01 to trade at $55.70 a barrel.
USD/RUB was down 0.57% to 60.6964, while EUR/RUB fell 0.48% to 64.554.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.01% at 100.99.
