Investing.com – Russia equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Power, Manufacturing and Mining sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX declined 0.22%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the MICEX were Yandex NV (MCX:YNDX), which rose 2.27% or 23.00 points to trade at 1036.00 at the close. Lukoil (MCX:LKOH) added 1.73% or 44.5 points to end at 2614.5 and Aeroflot (MCX:AFLT) was up 1.56% or 1.13 points to 73.69 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Polymetal International PLC (MCX:POLY), which lost 5.00% or 34.50 points to trade at 655.50 in late trade. Rosseti ao (MCX:RSTI) declined 3.29% or 0.0195 points to end at 0.5735 and FSK EES (MCX:FEES) shed 3.24% or 0.0028 points to 0.0820.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 148 to 73 and 22 ended unchanged on the Moscow Stock Exchange.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was up 3.84% to 37.030.
In commodities trading, Gold for June delivery was up 1.38% or 16.90 to $1238.90 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in May fell 2.51% or 0.99 to hit $38.40 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract fell 2.10% or 0.86 to trade at $40.01 a barrel.
USD/RUB was down 0.21% to 68.3716, while EUR/RUB rose 0.26% to 76.969.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.57% at 95.44.
