Investing.com – Russia stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Power, Manufacturing and Telecoms sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX added 0.04% to hit a new 6-months high.
The best performers of the session on the MICEX were Akron (MCX:AKRN), which rose 2.79% or 84.0 points to trade at 3099.0 at the close. Meanwhile, AK Transneft OAO Pref (MCX:TRNF_p) added 2.68% or 4100 points to end at 157100 and MegaFon OAO (MCX:MFON) was up 2.23% or 20.00 points to 915.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Rosneft (MCX:ROSN), which fell 2.41% or 6.70 points to trade at 271.50 at the close. MiMES Rostelekom OAO Pref (MCX:RTKM_p) declined 2.19% or 1.40 points to end at 62.55 and NLMK ao (MCX:NLMK) was down 1.96% or 1.43 points to 71.38.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Moscow Stock Exchange by 120 to 102 and 8 ended unchanged.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was down 1.17% to 34.550.
Gold for December delivery was up 1.17% or 12.50 to $1081.20 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January fell 0.76% or 0.32 to hit $41.63 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract rose 0.00% or 0.01 to trade at $44.15 a barrel.
USD/RUB was down 0.41% to 64.595, while EUR/RUB rose 0.57% to 69.345.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.65% at 99.02.
