Investing.com – Spain equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Financial Services & Real Estate, Building & Construction and Chemical, Petroleum & Plastic sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Madrid, the IBEX 35 gained 0.56%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the IBEX 35 were Arcel. Mittal (MC:MTS), which rose 3.06% or 0.204 points to trade at 6.870 at the close. Gas Natural (MC:GAS) added 2.48% or 0.520 points to end at 21.525 and Acerinox (MC:ACX) was up 2.17% or 0.260 points to 12.240 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Banco Popular (MC:POP), which lost 6.25% or 0.047 points to trade at 0.705 in late trade. Indra A (MC:IDR) declined 1.11% or 0.135 points to end at 12.065 and Bankinter (MC:BKT) shed 0.64% or 0.054 points to 8.386.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 113 to 68 and 18 ended unchanged on the Madrid Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.31% or 3.76 to $1231.46 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 2.78% or 1.33 to hit $49.17 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 2.54% or 1.29 to trade at $52.13 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.37% to 1.0972, while EUR/GBP rose 0.26% to 0.8500.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.24% at 98.81.
