Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Cement, Cement & Glass and Iron & Steel sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted gained 0.70%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Rectron Ltd (TW:2302), which rose 9.97% or 0.74 points to trade at 8.16 at the close. Ta Chen Stainless Pipe Co Ltd (TW:2027) added 9.95% or 4.40 points to end at 48.60 and Grand Ocean Retail Group Ltd (TW:5907) was up 9.91% or 2.70 points to 29.95 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Hotel Holiday Garden (TW:2702), which lost 9.94% or 2.55 points to trade at 23.10 in late trade. Tah Tong Textile Co Ltd (TW:1441) declined 9.82% or 1.60 points to end at 14.70 and Sun Race Sturmey-Archer Inc (TW:1526) shed 9.78% or 3.30 points to 30.45.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 573 to 233 and 110 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for September delivery was up 0.33% or 0.22 to $67.42 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in October rose 0.28% or 0.20 to hit $72.81 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract rose 0.25% or 3.00 to trade at $1201.90 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.23% to 30.788, while TWD/CNY unchanged 0.00% to 0.2240.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.09% at 96.07.
