Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Electronic Parts/Components, Hotels and Optoelectronic sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted added 0.92% to hit a new 3-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Gem Terminal Industry Co Ltd (TW:2460), which rose 10.00% or 1.40 points to trade at 15.40 at the close. Choice Development Inc (TW:9929) added 10.00% or 1.15 points to end at 12.65 and Walsin Technology Corp (TW:2492) was up 10.00% or 35.50 points to 390.50 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Yuan Jen Enterprises Co Ltd (TW:1725), which lost 9.02% or 1.80 points to trade at 18.15 in late trade. CX Technology Corp (TW:2415) declined 8.18% or 2.25 points to end at 25.25 and Ritek Corp (TW:2349) shed 6.17% or 1.200 points to 18.250.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 576 to 214 and 122 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for July delivery was up 0.49% or 0.32 to $65.84 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in August rose 0.99% or 0.75 to hit $76.13 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract rose 0.03% or 0.40 to trade at $1302.60 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.26% to 29.738, while TWD/CNY fell 0.05% to 0.2153.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.12% at 93.74.
