Investing.com - Canadian equities started with gains on Monday. The top risers at the market open were Capped Energy, Renewable Energy and Clean Technology and Capped Consumer Staples indices.
At the market open in Toronto, the TSX Composite Index rose 0.33%. The TSX Venture and the TSX Smallcap were also up. The TSX Venture climbed 0.69%, while the Smallcap was up by 0.74%.
- NexGen Energy (TSX:NXE): Climbed 5.07% or 0.430 points to 8.910.
- Cameco (TSX:CCO): Increased 3.80% or 2.29 points to 62.52.
- OceanaGold (TSX:OGC): Rose 3.13% or 0.120 points to 3.960.
- SSR Mining (TSX:SSRM): Dropped 3.42% or 0.28 points to 7.90.
- Bausch Health (TSX:BHC): Declined 1.84% or 0.20 points to 10.69.
- CCL Industries (TSX:CCLb): Fell 1.24% or 1.01 points to 80.61.
In Commodities Trading:
- December Brent Oil Contract increased by 0.60% or 0.44 points to 74.13 a barrel.
- Crude Oil for November delivery climbed 0.48 points to 71.48 a barrel.
- Gold Futures for December delivery rose 10.90 points to 2,657.10 a troy ounce.
Currency Markets:
- USD/CAD is trading at 1.35.
- EUR/CAD dropped to 1.50 again.
- The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.18% at 100.602.

Today's main economic event for the Canadian markets is the new housing price data. Throughout this week, we have Governor Macklem speaking on Tuesday, Manufacturing Sales on Thursday, and GDP numbers & Budget Balance on Friday.
