Investing.com – Brazil equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Electric Power, Public Utilities and Financials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa rose 0.32%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were WEG SA (SA:WEGE3), which rose 3.06% or 0.58 points to trade at 19.54 at the close. Bradespar SA (SA:BRAP4) added 2.68% or 0.52 points to end at 19.90 and Cia Paranaense de Energia (SA:CPLE6) was up 2.62% or 0.72 points to 28.20 in late trade.
Biggest losers included JBS SA (SA:JBSS3), which lost 3.90% or 0.30 points to trade at 7.40 in late trade. Centrais Eletricas Brasileiras SA (SA:ELET6) declined 2.14% or 0.38 points to end at 17.34 and BRF SA (SA:BRFS3) shed 1.67% or 0.77 points to 45.25.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 200 to 194 and 46 ended unchanged on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 4.88% to 38.62.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.41% or 5.18 to $1262.92 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 0.58% or 0.29 to hit $49.51 a barrel, while the July US coffee C contract rose 0.61% or 0.80 to trade at $132.02 .
USD/BRL was up 0.13% to 3.2617, while EUR/BRL rose 0.42% to 3.6511.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.17% at 97.16.
