Investing.com – Brazil stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Public Utilities, Electric Power and Basic Materials sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa fell 0.81%.
The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were Oi SA (SA:OIBR4), which rose 8.72% or 0.17 points to trade at 2.12 at the close. Meanwhile, Tim Participacoes SA (SA:TIMP3) added 5.93% or 0.48 points to end at 8.57 and Telefonica Brasil SA (SA:VIVT4) was up 4.29% or 1.65 points to 40.15 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were ALL America Latina Logistica SA (SA:RUMO3), which fell 7.01% or 0.54 points to trade at 7.16 at the close. Cia Paranaense de Energia (SA:CPLE6) declined 5.90% or 1.99 points to end at 31.75 and EcoRodovias SA (SA:ECOR3) was down 4.96% or 0.33 points to 6.32.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange by 184 to 128 and 11 ended unchanged.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 1.61% to 47.26.
Gold for December delivery was up 0.07% or 0.80 to $1163.60 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in December fell 1.84% or 0.82 to hit $43.78 a barrel, while the December US coffee C contract fell 0.99% or 1.18 to trade at $117.28 .
USD/BRL was up 0.65% to 3.9053, while EUR/BRL rose 0.95% to 4.3163.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.25% at 96.94.
