NEW YORK, May 18 (Reuters) -
* The Toronto Stock Exchange's S&P/TSX .GSPTSE rose 18.76 points, or 0.12 percent, to 16,162.31, extending its recent streak of higher closes to an 11th day.
* The biggest contributor to the TSX gain was TransCanada TRP.TO with 7.6 net index points. Health care was the top sector contributor with 8.3 net points.
* Leading the index were Aurora Cannabis Inc ACB.TO , up 10.0 percent, Canopy Growth Corp WEED.TO , up 8.8 percent, and Torex Gold Resources Inc TXG.TO , higher by 3.9 percent.
* Lagging shares were Labrador Iron Ore Royalty Corp LIF.TO , down 3.1 percent, Element Fleet Management Corp EFN.TO , down 2.5 percent, and Trican Well Service Ltd TCW.TO , lower by 2.3 percent.
* On the TSX 167 issues advanced and 76 declined as a 2.2-to-1 ratio favored advancers. There were 11 new highs and 1 new lows, with total volume of 180.8 million shares.
* The most heavily traded shares by volume were Aurora Cannabis Inc ACB.TO , Canopy Growth Corp WEED.TO and Aphria Inc APH.TO .
* The TSX's energy group .SPTTEN fell 0.35 points, or 0.17 percent, while the financials sector .SPTTFS slipped 0.52 points, or 0.17 percent.
* West Texas Intermediate crude futures CLc1 fell 0.27 percent, or $0.19, to $71.3 a barrel. Brent crude LCOc1 fell 0.84 percent, or $0.67, to $78.63 O/R
* The TSX is off 0.3 percent for the year.
