India shares higher at close of trade; Nifty 50 up 0.07%

Investing.com – India equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Banking, Real Estate and Public Sector Undertakings sectors propelled shares higher.

At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 added 0.07%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index gained 0.18%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were AXIS Bank Ltd (NS:AXBK), which rose 9.46% or 78.15 points to trade at 904.00 at the close. ICICI Bank Ltd (NS:ICBK) added 2.40% or 21.30 points to end at 909.95 and Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (NS:KTKM) was up 2.33% or 43.45 points to 1,907.00 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Bajaj Finance Ltd (NS:BJFN), which lost 3.41% or 253.40 points to trade at 7,179.00 in late trade. Bajaj Finserv Ltd (NS:BJFS) declined 2.54% or 43.80 points to end at 1,681.90 and Divi's Laboratories Ltd. (NS:DIVI) shed 2.43% or 88.90 points to 3,563.00.

The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were AXIS Bank Ltd. (BO:AXBK) which rose 8.96% to 900.25, ICICI Bank Ltd (BO:ICBK) which was up 2.13% to settle at 907.15 and Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (BO:HLL) which gained 2.11% to close at 2,655.05.

The worst performers were Bajaj Finance Ltd (BO:BJFN) which was down 3.20% to 7,191.85 in late trade, Bajaj Finserv Ltd (BO:BJFS) which lost 2.39% to settle at 1,684.00 and IndusInd Bank Ltd. (BO:INBK) which was down 1.63% to 1,142.10 at the close.

Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1207 to 602 and 64 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1897 fell and 1354 advanced, while 136 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.

The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 0.28% to 17.28 a new 1-month low.

In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.50% or 8.15 to $1,628.65 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 0.20% or 0.17 to hit $84.68 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract rose 0.25% or 0.23 to trade at $92.61 a barrel.

USD/INR was up 0.02% to 82.84, while EUR/INR fell 0.44% to 80.67.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.56% at 113.44.
