Investing.com – India equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Metals, Technology and Power sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 gained 0.55%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index gained 0.51%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were IndusInd Bank Ltd. (NS:INBK), which rose 2.09% or 25.25 points to trade at 1,234.40 at the close. Adani Enterprises Ltd (NS:ADEL) added 2.03% or 73.95 points to end at 3,721.15 and Tata Steel Ltd (NS:TISC) was up 1.99% or 2.35 points to 120.45 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Titan Company Ltd (NS:TITN), which lost 1.20% or 29.40 points to trade at 2,417.20 in late trade. Apollo Hospitals Enterprises Ltd. (NS:APLH) declined 0.52% or 22.80 points to end at 4,336.95 and Nestle India Ltd (NS:NEST) shed 0.46% or 90.95 points to 19,782.30.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Tata Steel Ltd (BO:TISC) which rose 2.03% to 120.45, IndusInd Bank Ltd. (BO:INBK) which was up 2.00% to settle at 1,233.45 and Infosys Ltd (BO:INFY) which gained 1.55% to close at 1,503.50.
The worst performers were Titan Company Ltd (BO:TITN) which was down 1.14% to 2,417.65 in late trade, Nestle India Ltd (BO:NEST) which lost 0.44% to settle at 19,790.95 and Larsen & Toubro Ltd (BO:LART) which was down 0.30% to 2,153.75 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1075 to 825 and 68 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1898 rose and 1459 declined, while 150 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 5.34% to 14.46.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.46% or 8.65 to $1,907.45 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 1.02% or 0.80 to hit $79.19 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract rose 0.99% or 0.83 to trade at $84.86 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.31% to 81.35, while EUR/INR rose 0.26% to 88.21.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.08% at 101.91.
