Investing.com – India equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the IT, Technology and Oil & Gas sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 gained 0.91%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index climbed 0.94%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Infosys Ltd (NS:INFY), which rose 6.64% or 46.50 points to trade at 747.00 at the close. Bharat Petroleum Corp. Ltd. (NS:BPCL) added 6.50% or 24.05 points to end at 394.30 and Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (NS:TCS) was up 4.92% or 99.10 points to 2115.20 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Bajaj Finance Ltd (NS:BJFN), which lost 3.09% or 92.80 points to trade at 2912.55 in late trade. ITC Ltd (NS:ITC) declined 3.07% or 6.20 points to end at 195.90 and Bharti Infratel Ltd (NS:BHRI) shed 2.82% or 6.45 points to 222.00.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Infosys Ltd (BO:INFY) which rose 6.94% to 748.15, Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (BO:TCS) which was up 5.22% to settle at 2115.95 and IndusInd Bank Ltd. (BO:INBK) which gained 3.64% to close at 492.35.
The worst performers were ITC Ltd (BO:ITC) which was down 3.54% to 195.10 in late trade, Bajaj Finance Ltd (BO:BJFN) which lost 3.33% to settle at 2904.30 and Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (BO:KTKM) which was down 3.00% to 1340.95 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 938 to 674 and 54 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1560 rose and 1001 declined, while 127 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 3.34% to 28.7350 a new 3-month low.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.20% or 3.55 to $1774.15 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 0.80% or 0.31 to hit $39.03 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract rose 1.05% or 0.43 to trade at $41.48 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.00% to 75.582, while EUR/INR rose 0.14% to 84.8935.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.13% at 97.263.
