Investing.com – India equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the IT, Technology and Power sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 rose 0.96%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index added 1.06%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Infosys Ltd (NS:INFY), which rose 3.85% or 36.60 points to trade at 988.40 at the close. Bajaj Finance Ltd (NS:BJFN) added 2.94% or 50.45 points to end at 1764.25 and State Bank Of India (NS:SBI) was up 2.60% or 8.45 points to 333.40 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Adani Port and Special Economic Zone Ltd (NS:APSE), which lost 2.43% or 9.90 points to trade at 397.20 in late trade. Coal India Ltd (NS:COAL) declined 1.47% or 4.00 points to end at 268.35 and Bharat Petroleum Corp. Ltd. (NS:BPCL) shed 1.06% or 5.35 points to 499.35.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Infosys Ltd (BO:INFY) which rose 3.85% to 988.60, State Bank Of India (BO:SBI) which was up 2.54% to settle at 333.45 and Reliance Industries Ltd (BO:RELI) which gained 2.27% to close at 902.45.
The worst performers were Adani Port and Special Economic Zone Ltd (BO:APSE) which was down 2.27% to 398.00 in late trade, Coal India Ltd (BO:COAL) which lost 1.27% to settle at 268.95 and Hero MotoCorp Ltd (BO:HROM) which was down 0.72% to 3649.00 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1077 to 511 and 8 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1649 rose and 958 declined, while 151 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 5.63% to 13.4625.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.04% or 0.51 to $1278.21 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December fell 0.14% or 0.08 to hit $55.25 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract fell 0.24% or 0.15 to trade at $61.72 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.10% to 65.245, while EUR/INR fell 0.22% to 76.7989.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.12% at 93.83.
