Investing.com – Russia equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Power, Mining and Oil & Gas sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX added 0.64%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the MICEX were Severstal - ao (MCX:CHMF), which rose 3.59% or 29.10 points to trade at 839.00 at the close. NMTP (MCX:NMTP) added 3.47% or 0.2100 points to end at 6.2600 and AFK Sistema (MCX:AFKS) was up 3.46% or 0.770 points to 23.000 in late trade.
Biggest losers included PIK (MCX:PIKK), which lost 3.00% or 8.90 points to trade at 287.70 in late trade. United Company Rusal Plc (MCX:RUAL) declined 2.31% or 0.690 points to end at 29.200 and Megion (MCX:MFGS) shed 1.36% or 8.0 points to 582.0.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 114 to 91 and 26 ended unchanged on the Moscow Stock Exchange.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was down 0.81% to 23.340.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.28% or 3.55 to $1254.75 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in May fell 0.61% or 0.31 to hit $50.29 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract fell 0.67% or 0.36 to trade at $53.17 a barrel.
USD/RUB was up 0.02% to 56.2800, while EUR/RUB fell 0.52% to 60.019.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.06% at 100.48.
